I was a member of a 12 person team (4 programmers, 2 designers, 6 artists) that created a 2D side scrolling shooter game in a custom engine as an academic project. I created and maintained an editor for our 2 designers, implemented the damage gameplay system, created the player's heads up display and any other menus in the game. I created the UI framework in C++ to implement all the menus in the game. Using this framework and the direction of our designers and artist, I created the menus and heads up display for our game.
